Ascot Racecourse is a British racecourse located in Ascot, England. It is one of the mots prestigeous racecourses in the UK. The course is associated with the British Royal Family.The Royal Ascot is held each June. It was founded by Queen Anne in 1711.

 

Every year Royal Ascot is attended by Elizabeth II and other members of the British Royal Family: they arrive each day in a horse-drawn carriage with the Royal procession.

 

It is a major event in the British social calendar. There are three enclosures (enceintes) for guests. The most prestigeous is the Royal Enclosure.

There is a dress code for each enclosure.

In the Royal Enclosure :

  • Ladies must wear hats, dresses and skirts should be just above the knee or longer. Strapless (sans bretelles)  are NOT permitted, midriff (ventre) must be covered.
  • Gentlemen must wear top hats (black or grey), black shoes, waistcoats and ties.

 

Each year Ladies Day is held of the Thursday of the Royal Meeting (on the 22nd this June).
